Terms of Service & Customer Agreement

These Terms of Service ("Agreement") govern the provision of residential and commercial overhead garage door repair, preventative maintenance, hardware replacement, and emergency dispatch services provided by Overhead Door Repair Dynamics LLC doing business as Overhead Door Repair Pro ("Company", "we", "us", or "our") to clients, commercial facility directors, and residential property owners ("Customer", "you"). By requesting service via telephone, online form, or authorizing an on-site technician, you formally agree to be bound by these contractual terms.

1. Scope of Work and Written Authorizations

Technicians dispatched by the Company will inspect the overhead door system, conduct a comprehensive multi-point safety evaluation, and present a clear written estimate detailing recommended services and replacement hardware. Work will not commence without affirmative verbal or written authorization from the Customer or authorized property representative. Any modifications, hidden structural framing rot, or unforeseen pre-existing framing distortions discovered during mechanical disassembly will be communicated immediately with revised scope estimates prior to execution.

2. Upfront Pricing, Service Fees and Payment Terms

All service charges, labor rates, and hardware prices are quoted prior to initiation of mechanical repairs. Our multi-point diagnostic service fee is waived completely when the Customer authorizes recommended repair services on the initial visit. Payment in full is due immediately upon completion of services and successful execution of the mechanical demonstration. We accept all major credit cards, debit cards, certified funds, and pre-approved commercial purchase orders. The Company reserves the statutory right to apply standard returned payment processing fees and statutory interest on delinquent balances exceeding standard Net-30 commercial billing periods.

3. Comprehensive Hardware Warranties & Specific Exclusions

The Company warrants all premium replacement hardware—including ASTM A229 oil-tempered torsion counterbalance springs, flexible 7x19 aircraft lift cables, and 13-ball sealed nylon rollers—against defects in material and craftsmanship under standard residential cyclic operation. This warranty provides complete replacement of covered mechanical parts with zero component replacement fees. However, warranty coverage explicitly excludes damage resulting from accidental vehicular collision, unauthorized third-party mechanical tampering, improper manual operation, failure of pre-existing wood framing or foundation shifting, severe natural weather catastrophes (including hurricanes, tornadoes, and floods), or failure to perform basic routine lubrication maintenance as instructed by the servicing technician.

4. Safety Disclaimers and Limitations of Structural Liability

Overhead sectional doors and counterbalance systems store immense kinetic energy capable of causing severe blunt-force bodily harm, crushing injuries, or property damage if handled improperly. The Customer acknowledges that garage door tracks, torsion springs, and bottom cable brackets should never be disassembled, loosened, or tampered with by untrained individuals. During technician testing, all property occupants, children, and pets must maintain a minimum 10-foot safety clearance from the garage threshold. In no event shall the Company be held liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from pre-existing structural framing defects, foundation settling, or electrical utility power surges beyond the Company's control.

5. Dispute Resolution, Governing Law and Severability

This Agreement shall be construed and governed in accordance with the statutory laws of the state in which the physical repair services were executed. Any controversy or claim arising out of or relating to this contract, or the breach thereof, shall be settled through good-faith mediation prior to formal legal proceedings. If any provision of these terms is deemed invalid or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

Consumer Protection: Exposing the $49 Travel Fee Deception

The residential and commercial garage door repair industry is unfortunately saturated with unscrupulous lead-generation networks and subcontracted operators who advertise deceptive '$29 to $49 service calls.' Homeowners experiencing an emergency spring snap or off-track door often call these numbers expecting an affordable repair. Once the technician arrives on-site, they immediately condemn the entire system, claim the door is on the verge of falling, and demand upwards of $800 to $1,500 for low-grade imported hardware with no written warranty.

At Overhead Door Repair Pro, we operate under a strict code of ethical pricing and customer advocacy. We provide completely transparent upfront flat-rate pricing before any wrench touches your door. Our standard diagnostic and trip fee is 100% waived upon authorization of any mechanical repair or conversion. We show you the exact digital caliper measurements of your broken spring, explain the failure point clearly, and provide you with the old parts for your inspection.

The 3-Point Neutral Balance Float Test Protocol

Every mechanical service performed by our technicians concludes with the standardized 3-Point Neutral Balance Float Test. We disconnect the electric opener and evaluate the door's independent buoyancy:

  • Point 1: 3 Inches Off Floor: The door rests on the floor with full seal contact, but when lifted three inches, it remains stationary without crashing back down.
  • Point 2: Midpoint Float (4 Feet): Positioned at waist height, the door floats completely motionless in midair. It must not drop toward the concrete or drift upward toward the header.
  • Point 3: Full Open Radius: At the header stop, the bottom section remains level and resting safely in the horizontal track radius without forward roll.

If a door passes this 3-point test, your electric opener motor will operate under less than 10 pounds of resistance, protecting its sensitive nylon gears and logic board for decades of dependable operation.

Regional Metallurgy & Environmental Stress Factors

Overhead garage doors operate under severe environmental stress that varies dramatically across the 29 states in our national network. In coastal zones along the Gulf Coast and Atlantic Seaboard, salt-laden marine air accelerates galvanic corrosion on zinc-plated track brackets and lifts cables. Inland desert regions endure thermal cycling where garage interior temperatures regularly exceed 130°F, vaporizing light lubricants and hardening plastic roller sleeves. Meanwhile, northern Midwest and mountain regions subject spring steel to sub-zero cold snaps that induce ductile-to-brittle crystalline phase transitions, drastically increasing the probability of catastrophic spring shear during morning commute cycles.

To combat these regional vulnerabilities, Overhead Door Repair Pro utilizes ASTM A229 Class II oil-tempered spring wire infused with manganese and silicon alloys for superior cyclic fatigue resistance. Our aircraft lift cables are spun from 7x19 high-flexibility galvanized steel, and our rollers feature hermetically sealed 13-ball nylon bearings that repel grit, road de-icing salts, and ambient moisture.
